Personal Log January 25th

I woke up at 8am after being awake for 25 hours. And what a 25 hours they were. After landing on Seattle we had a 5 hour lay-overlay which seemed to take a long long time, especially when I was start to get tired.
The flight from Seattle to Pasco was OK, but you can’t really rest in it. Flying in a prop plane you feel like you are in a bus on a rocky road, except you are in the diesel engine. Your entire body resonates with the rest of the plane making it rather hard to sleep that one hour of flight.

Arriving at Pasco we discovered it had been snowing pretty hard. This resulted in some delays being picked up and taken back to Pendleton. Nathan had agreed to pick us up but arrived a bit later. Driving back it became apparent why. Especially around Pendleton it turned out to be more of a skating track than road.

I had a good laugh with Nathan. I was standing outside for a moment at the airport and I thought I saw Nathan arrive (based on the SUV I remembered them having, but he did not seem to notice me. Later Nathan said he thought I was Rogier but wasn’t sure because of the new featured facial hair.

Nathan dropped us off at Megan’s parents where we would take their car out to our final destination.

We’d be staying at Dottie and Warren, friends of Megan’s family who live in Mission just outside of Pendleton. I’ve met them a few times before. Dottie and Warren are good kind-hearted Christian folk, always willing to help out. They had agreed to take us in for the coming weeks.

Finding their home proved to be a  precarious enterprise since the car we borrowed from Megan’s parents had some problems with the heater, which resulted in fogged up windows. Driving very carefully we eventually found it.

We visited a little bit with Dottie (who was still awake) before I started to crash pretty hard and went to bed.

So now a relatively quiet day with just a few errands to run and to recuperate from the journey.
