Blog restart attempt… again

startblokAs you might have guessed by the huge gap in posts it’s been a while since I’ve even touched this blog. However recently I’ve discovered how I’ve missed vocalizing my opinions. I can do this on Facebook, but I can get rather lengthy in my postings and Facebook is not always the best medium for that.

I’ve also installed a Facebook connect plugin to repost my posts directly to Facebook (and from Facebook to my Twitter). Hopefully it won’t turn into a giant cluster fuck. (if it does, my apologies in advance).

Finally, I’ll probably be writing a bit more about my new passion: Agile development. More and more I’ve shifted from my professional role as Project Manager to Agile Coach and have been training people in the ways of Scrum. I’m devoting a lot of my professional time on this there’s a good chance of me rambling more and more about this subject.

Scammers get even more cheeky

Scam AlertObvious scams are obvious. Some of them are hilarious and some of them are downright cheeky.

The content of the e-mail below is obviously an attempt at identity theft. What’s so ‘funny’ is that they are using their own activities to motivate people into falling into their little trap.

Obviously you should never respond to this. Handing out your personal details as mentioned above will lead to identity theft and the damages that follow. Just a quick Google will show you what the horrific financial and social consequences are of ID fraud.

Fenrir: Welcome to the Family

As of last thursday we have a new member of the family: an 8 week old male Rotteiler pup named Fenrir.

Fenrir received his name based on its origin. Fenrir comes from the Norse mythology and is portrayed as a giant wolf and – more importantly – is the son of Loki. It’s a nice, strong name for a puppy that we hope will grow up to be a big, strong Rottweiler. He also take to Fenrir on another account: he loves to (play-)bite your hand.

Goodbye Puppyhead

My puppyhead

Today we said goodbye to my dog and loyal friend, Loki. After meeting with the veterinarian today euthanasia was the only option left with all the problems he was suffering from.

We adopted Loki in 2004 at the age of 4 around the birthday of Megan, after a search for a Rottweiler for adoptation. We found Loki at the pound in Zoetermeer, where he’d been for a long time; before than he spend almost a year in the pound in Rijswijk. His cute little panda-eyes and his playful character made him an easy choice.

Hello EVE Online, farewell reality

Selena Na'sharr - EVE online

I’ve finally made the step: I got an EVE online account now (thanks to my buddy Jemimus) and started exploring the vast world of EVE. After 3 weeks I am in a corp, flying several ships, have been wardec’d along with my corp and are thoroughly hooked to the game.

Where Star Wars the Old Republic might have been a mild caffeine addiction, this game is more addictive than Crystal Meth.

I’ve actually thought often to get EVE. I’ve heard many stories from friends about it and the game intrigued me. The aspect that most aspects of the game is player-controlled  makes it a diverse and ever-changing game.

The only thing I regret is not doing this sooner. Perhaps I could’ve played a bit with Omar, when he was still actively participating.
