Leakage

The last week  has been particularly stressful. Where we only had a small issue with moisture at the end of last year we now have a full blown leak in our living room. To make matters worse it has been raining a lot and it won’t stop for a while.

The water has been running down the walls, so it’s hard to try and catch it. We need to catch it because if the laminate floor gets too wet it will get damaged. Despite some ingenious constructions made by my dad to collect and divert the water into buckets, more water just bypasses.

I managed to sleep some last night. I shouldn’t complain because Megan stayed up for the night, keeping an eye on things. I can’t say I am rested though; I woke up more than a few times and had stressful dreams when I was asleep. Stress has always had a rather direct impact on my body and my body is telling me I am definitely stressed.

I suppose that everything relative. Yesterday Haiti remembered the destructive earthquake and people are still living in tent camps and the general public running the risk of contracting cholera. Today news of floods and landslides in Brasil and the massive flood in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I’ve got friends living in Brisbane, who -luckily- live on a hill and are not directly threatened by the washing water. Regardless their lives are no doubt turned upside down as well.

I can only hope that the issue is fixed soon. A roofer will inspect the roof and hopefully make a temp fix. Until then there’s little sleep
