Can this be right? I am trading my cute little Toyota Starlet in for an X-trail? Well yes and no. I am getting the X-trail (in the most literal sense of the word “getting”) and I have a Starlet I need to get rid of (because having 2 cars is too expensive for me).
So how did this all come to be.
My dad called me last monday and told me he was going to look for a new car. He was wondering if I was interested in the X-trail. Having had this discussion in the past I told him that I would love to have it, but I could not afford the day value of the car.
Half a day later he called me back and told me he bought a new car. He also told me I would get the X-trail. Trust me, hearing that I asked specifically what he meant by ‘getting’ . He was leaving the X-trail to me. He got such a good bargain on the new car (a newer version of the X-trail) that he decided he’d rather give it to me. It took about a day to really sink in.
So starting monday I will be the owner of a Nissan X-trail 2.2 Diesel with a lot of extras! I still can hardly believe it.
Coming back to the problem of having two cars, I will need to sell my car really fast.
My current car is a Toyota Starlet from 1996, the last in the line of Starlets. It is a red 3-door 1.3 liter petrol car with about 235K on the counter. It has got a sun roof. ๐
Last year I had a lot of components replaced, which were due for replacing (after 200K on the clock):
- Transmission
- Car battery
- Radiator
- Waterpump
- Heat shield
- Belt
- Tires (all 4 of them)
- Break line (for parking break)
- and more
There’s just one ailment right now: the air blower only can go on or off (the lower settings don’t work, needs a diode to be replaced) Other than that the vehicle operates just fine.

Ah such a nice vehicle the X-Trail is… now if only I could drive it too. ๐ ย Where’s my happy, happy… I’ll have to settle for a house. ๐
