Personal Log February 5th

The last few days we have taken it a bit slower. For one because Megan wasn’t feeling too well (nothing serious) and second because we had been working pretty hard the previous days and needed a bit of rest.

We did get in to the old Starwars stuff of Megan’s. Since it’s horribly expensive to ship it, plus we don’t really have the space she decided to sell hers on Ebay. We started taking out all the items and take pictures. Check my Flickr account for the photo set. Unfortunately some of it got damaged but most of it is in pretty decent shape.

We have visited David a lot the last couple of days. We brought a laptop to see how well he’d do reading and using a laptop for checking mail and such. It turned out that there were some issues there. So we just sat around for a while helping David read passages.

The next day we went up with a couple of flash cards with the Alphabet, numbers and words David seemed to have trouble with. We took him downstairs after his dinner and sat around in a lounge area playing with the flash cards practicing letters, numbers and words.

David seems to be improving with leaps and bounds. He regained a lot of strength in his leg and some dexterity in his hand. He still has a long way to go, but the way things are looking now things are very hopeful.

The critical points of rehabilitation is for his hip and wrist because that will determine how well he will be able to be self-sufficient at home. There’s also the concern for his ability to speak, read and write because that will determine most for his ability to start working again.

As such the latter is the biggest concern, also because of the continuation for his job. If anything money is the biggest concern right now. This is also where Megan is trying to help her parents in figuring out the finances, state support, disability, etc.

Today we have met up with aunt Linda and cousin Stacey for lunch before going up to David. It’s been three years since I’ve met Stacey but she is just as bubbly as I remembered. It was the first time I met aunt Linda.

Well, I should go back and visit with David. Just wanted to let you know how I was doing.

PS: dad, I heard you tried calling me. Good times to call is uptil 19.00 or 20.00 to call us at Dottie and Warren. After that we might be at Megan’s parents. Just text me when you would like to call.
