You know the feeling like the world is trying to screw you over? I just had one of those moments today. What happened is, that apparently my mobile phone subscription is in limbo. It all started with an unexpected invoice.
Last April I decided to switch from mobile operator. I have been with Vodafone for the last 8 years now but I decided I wanted to switch to Rabomobiel. It’s cheaper and it allows me to do my banking mobile. Sweet deal.
Last week I got an invoice from Vodafone which caught my attention because all my mobile numbers got ported. What surprised me even more was the fact that I was still being billed for a subscription that supposedly was canceled.
It seems that I now have two subscriptions and a subscriber number that is in limbo. Calling Vodafone, they will say I am still their customer and the subscriber number is linked to the vodafone network. However, using the Rabomobiel simcard I am available on the number that supposedly should only work with my Vodafone sim, which – by the way – is no longer working. Aside from that I got text messages when this number would be ported over and everything. Where could this have gone wrong?
All of the above does not deter Vodafone customer support from determining I am a raving lunatic on drugs when Itell them all of this. “It’s impossible” , is what I hear. “You cannot be right.” Instead of trying to help me solve the problem, they just prefer to treat me like a dumb user that should just shut up and pay his bills. I wonder if it is global operator policy to hire useless cunts for customer support but I am starting to suspect a world-wide conspiracy.
Where this went wrong exactly I don’t know. I know Rabomobiel is responsible for the porting request and thus they are now trying to sort out what is going wrong. Hopefully the techies can work it out for me or else this slapstick comedy will enter a new phase.
Best case all I have to worry about is who is going to pay me back the 2 months of subscriptions I apparently have been paying for nothing. Unless my fortune telling skills fail me now, I am sure that will be a whole different post entirely. I can’t wait.
