Bloody thieves

JailcellsYesterday at work we (my co-workers and I) made a startling discovery. Half of the mobiles we had for testing mobile/pda sites were missing. Considering the boxes were still there it can only be concluded that they were stolen. It really turned my already blah day into a full-blown crap day.

Some people probably could not give a hoot about company stuff getting stolen, but I definitely do.

Theft is a sick behavior that I cannot get my head around. Why is it that some people simply cannot keep their hands from stuff that is not theirs. Just the idea of someone being dishonest and stealing seriously gets my goad. And what is the point really? Since last time I have made it practice to write down all serial and EMEI numbers of the phones so they can simply be disabled, bombarded with text messages or triangulated.

The cost of the phones is not the biggest damage however; it is the fact that you start to distrust people at office. It completely ruins the work atmosphere and for a while you are constantly ‘aware’ of it, locking away stuff that you would normally feel comfortable leaving on your desk. Who of your co-workers can you trust and who is a dishonest, thieving bastard. They have not stolen a couple of mobile phones; we were robbed of our relatively careless, comfortable and fun work environment.

So thank you, sick asshole, for stealing all of this from us. Make sure you will never get caught in the act on our department for I assure you, that you would leave the building a cripple.
