Pre-op jitters

LokiToday is the big day. Loki goes in for surgery. But first I need to rectify an earlier statement. Loki does not seem to have a tumor but a bunch of big cysts. They are not as malicious as tumors but they do pose a health risk, hence the need to be removed.

At the same time Loki will be neutered (I refuse to use the word ‘fixed’… it is not broken!) to help prevent the cysts from forming in the future. I really feel my little puppy.

First of all, I do not like the neutering (it is probably an empathic male thing). But the doctor was pretty clear about and I would not risk the health of my puppy over my own reluctance to have his testicles removed.

Second, I don’t like operations that much, either. Despite all the assurances of past results, statistics and all can never completely take a way the nagging voice in the back of my head that it might go wrong. Considering the fact I do fly on aeroplanes (where something always can go wrong as well, with disastrous results) my worries are somewhat irrational but at the same time I cannot help but feel that knot in my stomach.

I just am ready to end this week, with Loki back with us safely (maybe a bit sore) and all worries behind me.
