Last weekend I started creating a new theme for this blog. Before you might fear a complete restyle, don’t worry; I am merely going to do a better job at making a template than I have with this one. I like the style, but it can be done better.
There is also a practical reason for changing the theme. When I installed this theme I had to ‘hack’ some files which were not part of the theme to do what I wanted to do. This was largely due to my unfamiliarity with the WordPress system. This has however led to the fact I cannot simply upgrade to a newer version of the WordPress blogging software. Considering the new features and improvements I feel it’s time to reinvent the theme and make it the correct way.
At least I have had some practice making WordPress themes; the website I created for my dad’s local party (www.leefbaar-zoetermeer.eu) was made in WordPress and it’s templates are done the proper way. I have also created and altered a few plug-ins. My new blog layout will feature a section where I will make these available.
