Me, myself and my ipod

ipod nano 8gbTwo weeks ago I got an early Christmas present: the new 3rd generation ipod nano 8gb and I must admit I am happy as a clam with it. I wear it just about everywhere. Music, podcasts, video casts… I devour audio and video content like nothing before.

I confess I have always been skeptical to jump on the ipod bandwagon. I’ve always said that I would not let myself be influenced by its gimmick value and would only consider value for money. Effectively, I almost prejudicially dismissed the ipod as a candidate.

This fall I decided to get my act together again and start running again. This was not a notion that came out of the blue. My cholesterol results came back and they told me I needed to get some training done. Since I don’t really like running alone and most of my friends don’t have time when I can run I decided I would need another kind of companion. Music was the key to my motivation.

Quickly I started browsing through the available MP3 players. I wanted something with large capacity but small enough I could run around with it. Something the size of the ipod nano and the memory capacity of the new nano and the battery life of the new nano. And lets face it, it would be a bonus if the thing would be as aesthetically pleasing as the nano.
You get it, my attention shifted to the nano. The only real threshold was the price: the new nano costs about 200 EUR, which was a bit on the high end of what I wanted to pay for an MP3 player.

Regardless I felt myself desire the nano more and more the longer I thought about it. Then I decided I wanted the 4gb, but the little boy in me wanted more. 8gb then.. and in black (no prissy white for me). The last bit of doubt was taken away by my wife, who said to consider what I wanted and if it was really worth it.

And here I am. I know no regrets; only happiness with my new companion. I am searching the web for feeds of content to load automatically on my nano to entertain me on my way to work. I have turned from skeptic to fanatic. Apple has shown me love and I have given love in return.
