Well, it’s been more than 2 weeks I’ve been put on my new job as project manager. I can only stress how different this job is than what I am used to. If you just tuned in, 3 weeks ago I was still the lead system administrator of ilse media, a company that has some of the biggest websites in the Netherlands. Now I help creating them.

Control structures explained in human terms
Today I found myself on IRC chat again, while debugging some code. During a rather childish “am not, are too” discussion I typed the line “while (true) { echo ‘not’; }”, effectively ending the debate, when someone asked me if this was a valid statement.

Dutch Railway Line crippled due to harddisk crash
Today one of my co-workers was victim of a major problem on the dutch railway service from and to Amsterdam; he came almost 2 hours late at office because of a ‘computer malfunction’ which resulted in the signaling and switches wouldn’t work. Apparently the computer that is responsible for dealing with these systems suffered a hard disk crash.
