Google ChromeTo be honest I thought the stage was set. Safari to Windows platform, Firefox 3.0 released, IE 8 to come. A whole ‘new’ cycle of browser wars to see who comes on top. Little did I suspect a ‘late comer’ to the next round in browser slug wars.

BlahnessMy dear sister had asked me to please reinstall everything on her laptop as it was heavily polluted with all kinds of residual software from the era my dad used to use it. I am always more than happy to help out my little sister with that kind of stuff.

She is gone with my parents to South Africa (chasing Lions n’ stuff) so this was the perfect opportunity for me to make things right for her. I picked her laptop up the evening before the left and the CDs to reinstall it all.

Little did I suspect the calamity that was on my path.

Dutch Railway Line crippled due to harddisk crash

Train evacuatedToday one of my co-workers was victim of a major problem on the dutch railway service from and to Amsterdam; he came almost 2 hours late at office because of a ‘computer malfunction’ which resulted in the signaling and switches wouldn’t work. Apparently the computer that is responsible for dealing with these systems suffered a hard disk crash.
