This week is a bit of an awkward week for me. Here in Holland we are off for the queen’s birthday, then we have Ascension and on friday the company I work for is closed. So basically I have had a 2 day workweek. (Worse things have happened to me in the past 
)
So, you have practically 5 days of no work what are you going to do? Right… program your own MVC framework.
I created the Daily Dilbert widget plug in some time ago but I finally came around to put it all on the repository at the Wordpress Plugins Directory. You can get it there now as well.
Since not to long ago the people at United Feature Syndicate have made a Daily Dilbert widget available. They released a widget for just about every flavor of blog, except Wordpress. Therefore I took matters in my own hand.
I sometimes wonder why it is I never can have ’standard’ malfunctions in my computer hardware. It’s as if fate wants to keep it challenging for me and keeps tossing me the ‘interesting’ issues.
My dear sister had asked me to please reinstall everything on her laptop as it was heavily polluted with all kinds of residual software from the era my dad used to use it. I am always more than happy to help out my little sister with that kind of stuff.
She is gone with my parents to South Africa (chasing Lions n’ stuff) so this was the perfect opportunity for me to make things right for her. I picked her laptop up the evening before the left and the CDs to reinstall it all.
Little did I suspect the calamity that was on my path.
Today one of my co-workers was victim of a major problem on the dutch railway service from and to Amsterdam; he came almost 2 hours late at office because of a ‘computer malfunction’ which resulted in the signaling and switches wouldn’t work. Apparently the computer that is responsible for dealing with these systems suffered a hard disk crash.
The last couple of months Internet Service Providers in the Netherlands have been skulking about in regards of messing with the liberties of their customers: at least two Internet Providers have decided to silently block outgoing mail traffic (SMTP). Through this draconian measure they hope to fight spam that is being sent through infected or abused workstations.

Today Sun Microsystems announced, that the Java platform is to become open-source. The source code of the Java environment will be opened up for developers under the GNU public License; the same license as used for the Operating System Linux.
