Custom Splashscreen on the Asus Eee PC

Day two of freaking with my Eee PC I decided to personalize my Eee PC even more. I wanted to have custom splash screens with starting up or shutting down my mini-laptop. Sure enough there was a tutorial present on theĀ Eee User community. It’s a bit technical, but really worthwhile.

I am not gonna parrot the work of others, so I will simply link to the tutorial. Be advised though; this process is not of point-and-click simplicity. You will need to run and execute a Python script and reboot into safe mode to place the images. If you have never worked outside of a graphical user interface and have some basic Linux knowledge I would not recommend it.

Having said that, the tutorial can be found here: How to create custom startup and shutdown screens

Anyway time for some shameless flaunting of my slash screens.

Start splash screen GrefTek

Stop splash screen GrefTek
